Barack 'Manuel' Obama?

Tuesday, 13 May 2008

So if the Hamas terrorist organisation likes Obama because his middle name is Hussein, he's lived in a Muslim country between the ages of six and ten and that he's an all around 'worldy' guy, why would the non-Islamist Columbian terrorist group FARC want an Obama Presidency?  Obama hasn't even visited South America.

IBD might have a clue:

Meanwhile, another Obama supporter secretly reassured Colombian FARC chieftain Raul Reyes that Obama would cut off military aid to Colombia and vote down its free trade pact.

Thus far, Obama hasn't told voters where he stands on Colombia military aid. On trade, FARC's informant was right on the money, but U.S. voters didn't find out until well after Colombia's top terrorist had.

Look.  I'm not saying that Obama supports terrorists.  I'm suggesting that all different kinds of groups, despite national origin, have preferences in US Presidential Elections.  Any group, like people, hitch their wagon to the person who they think will be the most beneficial -or least damaging- to their causes.

I think it is legitimate to comment on who prefers which candidate and someone shouldn't be labelled as a bigot or a racist for mentioning it.  It's not rocket science: If Obama wants to stop getting the endorsements of dictators and terrorists then maybe he should change his policies.  McCain doesn't seem to suffer from this problem.

In a perfect world, when asked their preference, I would like nothing more than to hear the leaders of Iran, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela and groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, AQ, IJ and FARC to say that there is no good option.  It would be refreshing to hear that they viewed candidates from both parties as equally disastrous.
